As a switch, it kind of weirds me out sometimes when loads of people talk about wanting to submit to a character who brings out my inner domme hard. Like, okay, YKINMK and I don't find it strange in and of itself/in isolation, but seriously, every dirty Doctor Who secrets blog on Tumblr is full of fantasies about the Tenth Doctor chaining the secret-maker up and making them his bitch? Wha? If I ever in my life saw a walking, talking "pull me down by my hair and shove my knees up to my chest and make me beg you to fuck me" sign, Ten would be it. If the fantasies were about his occasional unhinged power trips, that'd be one thing, but in the ordinary course of things I have real difficulty wrapping my head around him as a dom because he's just an open invitation to do terrible things to him.

Okay, okay, I like different character interpretations very much, but TEN!? This Ten? Being all domly dom? Nope, can't see it as well.

Could not agree more. The only character who screams 'top me' harder than Ten is the Master.

I know the feeling. People interpret characters differently and all, and usually I'm not too picky about which character is which in a fic. But some characters just scream submissive to me. The two in particular for me are Spike from Buffy and Dean Winchester from Supernatural. I just can't read either of them being doms at all. Spike in particular.

I agree with you about Ten also. I can see him as submissive or as vanilla, but I can't really see him as dominant.
