Collins isn't responsible for people who lack basic reading comprehension. I worked out pretty quickly, just from knowing the character, that Katniss would never do something so heinous. She obviously had a plan.

I think Collins could have done a better job of conveying that, if it was her intention. It's too simple to say it's everyone else's problem.

To expect people to believe the opposite of what was said is ridiculous. To include one line saying that the Hunger Games didn't actually happen was required. Otherwise, readers absolutely should believe that what was decided on and then not mentioned again happened as scheduled.

And yet it's done in literature all the time. Collins sadly gave her readers more credit than they deserved. She was writing for a certain intelligence level and it's not her responsibility to spoon-feed everyone below it.

Wow. Get you and your elitist yammerings! FTR, I've been tested as having a gifted intelligence level. I graduated from high school at the top of my grade (for English) and I have a diploma in English Lit. COLLINS SUCKS AT WRITING. I could barely finish the first book, I was so bored and annoyed by it, and I wouldn't read the other two books if you *paid* me.
