I don't have the book on hand, but that entire segment is built around Katniss trying to silently communicate with Haymitch into securing his vote, thinking "now we'll see how alike we are", and feeling satisified when he agrees to the final Hunger Games.

..so you think that this was because she had this secret upspoken plan to murder Coin and Haymitch and Johanna were telepathically in on it all along through what, subtle eye contact? And Peeta and the others weren't? Uh-huh. I mean, come on. Collins elaborated on fucking EVERYTHING in that book. I doubt she would leave out something as important as an assassination plot.

I think you guys are trying way too hard to explain away Katniss' "bad" actions so that she can be the perfect little female lead the most girl characters are in books. It's pretty obvious throughout the series that Katniss is not just imperfect, but deeply flawed, which is GREAT.

Nobody said anything about Johanna being in on it, just that Katniss was planning something and she communicated to Haymitch that she was planning "something". He chose to trust her with whatever it was. And in what universe is plotting a murder a good action? It's preferable over slaughter of innocent children, but it's still murder. No one is pretending otherwise.

The fact that Collins didn't elaborate on the final Hunger Games is in itself telling. Katniss only wonders if they started like that, and goes on to think that "nothing has changed. Nothing will ever change." Then she considers her options. It's subtle as compared to the rest of the book, but still there.

I kinda agree with you, but I fail to see how thinking she had another plan or didn't want another Hunger Games somehow equals wanting her to be a "perfect little female lead". There's a difference "she's perfect" and "I don't think she'd go that far".

I guess because some of the people I've seen say that are also people who I've seen, in other threads, trying to explain away her flaws as some kind of ultimate plan on the part of Katniss to "appear" to be one way so that she can fool someone.

YMMV. To me they're just pointing out things to support the theory.

Katniss has a habit of doing/saying things without thinking of the consequences, and all she needed was for Haymitch to get that she wanted a "yes" - no need for him to get why. Personally I don't think she had any thoughts of killing Coin until the execution, but I can see how someone would think she said "yes" to... not gain trust, just make sure Coin wouldn't see her as an enemy. (Thinking about it I'm not sure why her voting wouldn't be enough, but eh.)
