If you really knew Norse myth, you'd know that, up until Baldr, Loki was just as beneficial to the Asgardians as he was a problem. He tended to mess things up, sure, but then he made things about ten times better. Thor's hammer? Loki got it for him. Who saved the bridge from being destroyed by turning into a horse and... Having a kid with the other guy's horse? Loki.

So, yeah, what? If anything, the original myths made him more sympathetic than the MCU canon since he was basically treated like a disaster waiting to happen, thus becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.
