I loved Prue. Paige was an absolute sweetie but I liked that Prue was so hyper-competent, because for damn sure nobody else was after she died. (Except maybe Piper, who really came into her own magically, but still continued to be all whiny I-wanna-be-normal whereas Prue embraced her witchiness in full.) Plus I appreciated how much she busted Cole's balls...somebody had to do it.

Lord help me how I hated Chris - glad I'm not in the fandom if it's nothing but a blizzard of him.

What I found most annoying about Pru was that she was always right. She didn't trust Cole when there was no reason not to from their point of view, and yet the show made it out as if she somehow knew he wasn't trustworthy. Then there was that episode where her old friend wanted to become a demon. The end of the episode moral was that he was redeemable and Cole wasn't. And everyone agreed with her. And then the sin episode where at the end her pride was really okay and not a bad thing at all and saved the day.

And she was jumping on Cole even after he had proven he was good. Then again, everyone did that at one point or another. The show seemed to honestly think that his powers made him inherently evil and that no matter how many times he proved his goodness, he wasn't ever going to be really good. It pissed me off. Frankly, I didn't blame him for going evil at the end considering how Phoebe treated him for that first part of season 5 as if he had chosen to be possessed or as if he himself had done all those things rather than the Source.

I so agree about Chris, though. Never got the love. And yes, the fandom is all about him. 95% of the fics are Chris-centric.

I agree that it was annoying how she was almost never wrong, except about the "vanquishing Death" thing (and even there her hubris was portrayed as sympathetic instead the sheer blind arrogance it actually was).

I didn't much care for Cole as a character (although it's probably how he was - and how Phoebe related to him - later on in the series that pissed me off, in the beginning he was pretty cool), but yeah, since the show was so black and white in regards to good and evil, he never stood a chance. I think that was the worst part of the series, that absolutism. But ultimately I feel like they were just trying to milk available drama for all it was worth and let it go on too long. Cole should have either died or been fully redeemed several seasons before they actually let the poor bastard rest.

I understand that McMahon wanted to leave, but I think it would have been a better choice to have him die for Phoebe and prove his love. I mean, ater the possession by the Source, I can understand why Phoebe couldn't be comfortable around him. That actually could have made for an interesting story: she knows it wasn't his fault, but that doesn't change the fact that he looks like the man who did all those things to her.

Basically, they could have done a much better job of writing him out.

That would have been better, definitely. In the end, despite what kind of monster he was forced to be, his love was true. They were generally driving towards that characterization throughout the Source storyline, but lost it like a randomly popped balloon by the time they killed him off.
