'laid back'?

Have you ever even been to fail_fandomanon?

It's got its good points, sure, but it is definitely not laid back. Everything there is serious business all the time, and the least bit of light-hearted silliness gets complaints and freezing and deletion.

I'm on every day, as I have for a year, so yeah, I'd say I know what I'm talking about.

It's not like Sherlock_Rant, where there's nothing but page after page of "sugar-high" random babbling, you need to actually have something moderately intelligent to say, or people get annoyed. But yeah, it's laid back. Good conversation. Minimal yelling and freaking out. Generally reasonable people talking about fandom related topics that interest them. Lots of recs. Fair amount of meta. Occasionally someone will be mad about something, but most threads aren't rants.

Maybe you just have a different understanding of laid back. Because what I see when I'm on is people flipping out over the slightest little thing and calling for the mods to freeze or delete threads, and overeager posturing about how special and different and clever a poster is for being able to have a ~snappy comeback~ for some boring troll.

Where are people asking for the mods to delete or freeze threads? Or the posturing about snappy comebacks? Is this something that is happening now, or is this something that happened like a couple of months ago and you just assumed that's the way it is all the time?

The biggest serious business going on right now is someone annoyed at Shakesville for white knighting the Scottish (while deleting and banning actual Scottish people who replied). And mostly anons are mocking and laughing. Other than that it's Teen Wolf discussions and books about alien invasions and a discussion about love triangles that anon's like. Which is what 90 percent of the comm does.

That seems pretty laid back, chill with a beer conversation to me.

It's not something that's happening right now, but it's a trend I see pretty often. Anything slightly immature and silly gets the deletion/freeze button.

Wait... Nothing got deleted or frozen in that thread. No one even asked for it to be deleted or frozen. People were pretty much laughing and saying "yuck!" and "TMI!" which, I think is a pretty expected reaction considering the content.

That thread was a good example of fail_fandomanoners being ~serious and proper~ and having a negative reaction toward anything silly.

They're like the antithesis to foul bachelorette frog. It's embarrassing.

You consider that serious and proper? Of course they were grossed out, but not because it was silly. They had a "negative reaction" because the anon was saying she never washes her sex toys, she only cleans them by licking them. What reaction were people supposed to have? They laughed and said "ew", much like people were saying here about the baby with a booger. Or do you think this community is "serious and proper."

I don't know. If your idea of laid back is just random strings of disconnected blabber, ala: http://sherlock-rant.livejournal.com/4086.html?page=21#comments (and I'm not saying you do, but this is the closest I can come up with to "silly"), I guess we just have different ideas of what sort of things we enjoy sitting back and chilling to.

The Shonanons, now, they're funny, and not at all serious business. When you can compete, I promise no one will complain about you or call for the mods to do something about your threads.

Or someone changed the ~thread titles~, shut down everything!
