I never watched the show regularly, but even while only seeing episodes sporadically, I was always under that impression too. Always thought it was fairly obvious. (That being said, I do appreciate that the writers didn't take the easy route and put them together just because they're both gay men. Will never felt that way and it never would've worked.)

Well, yeah.

IMHO 1) Yay! for not just pairing them up in "the two gays get each other and keep far away from everyone else" fashion

2) They loved each other

3) Will wasn't interested in Jack in that way

4) Jack fancied Will but was not in love with him,

IME friendship can weather unrequited love better than it can unrequited lust [not the derogatory type]. Just that there is more of an overlap between "I'm in love with you" and "I love you, my friend" than between "I'm sexually attracted to you" and "I love you, my friend"

Pretty sure this was canon? I don't think he carried a torch for Will throughout the entire series but at one point in one of the flashback episodes Jack admitted to having a thing for him.

He thought Will was cute, but I don't that either ever considered the other dating and sexing material.

Yeah, as above comment said, in the flashback ep when Will proposed to Grace and then came out, Jack blurted "I'm in love with you" and then pretended it was just a test when Will (gently) turned him down. ("You've been like my sherpa through the Himalayas of...him-a-laying.") I think we were supposed to assume that it was a youthful (well, college-age) infatuation that just turned into a vague. bantery crush. I'm glad they never really got together, though, that'd be way too easy. (I'm still annoyed about Anthony and Stanford on Sex and the City. WTF.)

x2 on the Anthony/Stanford pairing. They never really explained that one past "they're both gay".

^THIS

Thank you, I couldn't remember the line. Also, I figured that a light crush was part of the reason Jack was always calling Will fat and saying that he was going bald, etc.

I think he totally did, and was insulting Will and calling him fat all the time to cover it up because he knew Will didn't feel that way about him

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-06-28 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that was pretty much canon and didn't even know it was up for debate!

I am firmly convinced he did. Didn't he even make comments (Will wasn't supposed to hear) along the way, especially in that one flashback he and Will were at the grocery store right before Grace and Will re-met post college? No, I have not watched the reruns too many times in the mornings, why do you ask? :P
