Anon, I think you've missed a meme. We were all making fun of the otherkin-type people who claim to be 'transethnic' recently - OP isn't making fun of trans* people, they're making fun of the dumbasses who appropriate the language of trans* rights to support their deluded snowflakeness.

ayrt

Well that will teach me to leave the internet. Thanks for the clarification.

Check out secret 3 in post 2001 if you want to share the lulz. Here's some lulzy links too:

thoughtcatalog.com/2012/pretending-youre-oppressed-the-new-internet-fad-2/ (this article is by a trans* person)

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Why not? It's so full of things to LOL at.

Although I guess you can still LOL from your orbital rocket ship after you leave us all behind.

I don't think every identity mentioned it that article is all that legitimate. But you know what I've noticed?

The people who get mad at people for "appropriation" and "pretending to be oppressed" and other oppression olympics-esque terms are almost invariably the same people being jackasses to people for being otherkin or demisexuals or whatever in the first place.

And it's only when people start saying "hey, that's wrong and fucked up, don't say that stuff" that faux-outrage about some comparison they make is used to derail any criticism of them being jerkwads, and SJWs from elsewhere get linked for the dogpile - because god forbid we just be decent human beings to people who have some odd views.

Nope. Humanity is a creul, mirthful little shit. If something is worthy of mockery, it shall be mocked.

Saying your really the reincarnation of sora from kingdom hearts (funny how nobody is ever some grunt, mook or NPC from these games, always a prominent character or villian)? It's time to point and fucking laugh.

Okay, I find it very hard to believe that the author of the first article has actually talked to anyone who identifies as demisexual. As far as I've ever seen there's certainly a clear definition, and people identify that way because, well, they feel it describes them in a way that regular sexuality or asexuality doesn't. Also, you show me a demisexual who claims to be oppressed, and I'll show you what is probably a very confused person who doesn't represent the group at large.

Sorry, not trying to go off on you, anon. Touchy subject.

DA

I don't think it's funny. If you have to separately explain why something isn't offensive and link to reasons why it's funny, then it kind of fails as a joke.

AYRT

That's what's called an injoke. I don't think this is a particularly good one but I also don't see why the Tumblr transnowflakekin shouldn't be mocked & sent-up mercilessly and there definitely seem to be more trans* people joining in than saying they find the spectacle offensive. The appropriation of trans* rights is what's being found offensive by the trans* people who have weighed in on this.
