Me too. And we got to watch and read all kinds of awful nuclear apocalypse story. The idea that the world will eventually die doesn't bother me at all - that's natural, and there's no reason why life won't go on somewhere. But civilisation being destroyed, whether ours or someone else's, like in BSG? That scares the shit out of me.

Yeah. An entire race and society dead and gone forever? Terrifying. Like, Vulcan being being imploded in Star Trek '09 is awful, but at least the survivors can rebuild. That dead society in the TNG episode "The Inner Light" (where Picard is mind probed from beyond the intergalactic grave into believing he lives an entire lifetime on a dying planet- and all he got was that lousy flute) is fucking horrifying to me.

I need to watch BSG...
