Why do you still talk to you your mother? Your situation is one of the few times I could invision seriously telling a parent to shut the fuck up.

Apart from this one thing she was a pretty great mom, and I had a comfortable happy upbringing.

Plus my family are pretty well off, and even if she was terrible I'd find it hard to give up all the benefits.

Even the most greatest of parents can do a rare pretty shitty thing to their kids, they're human.

But please speak up because it's pretty clear that you are not comfortable with your mom telling your girlfriends about something in your past that you are clearly do not want to talk/joke around about. That's one instance that your level of comfort is more important.
