T-t-that's all, folks- ...Ah- wait, no, there's more!

For those of you who live in London (and I know there are some! I've seen the FS comment stats!), did you know that there's a Friendly Spider Programme at London Zoo? What it does is try to tackle common myths about spiders, how and why people are scared of them, why people really shouldn't be in general, and then address those phobias.

Even if you're not really scared but you'd like to know more about spiders and how they're like, I'd suggest taking a look if you can! The next avaliable courses are in September and October, though. Here's an article on what it's like, from a person who attended it. Warning, spider pics in there- here's one from a person in the course itself, though.

The spider he's handling is a Mexican red-kneed tarantula, otherwise known as Brachypelma smithi. It's a soft and friendly spider and pretty easy to handle!

Those roadrunners are absolutely adorable.

Wow. Seeing Tweety next to a picture of an actual bird makes me think about how bizarre his proportions are. I know he's a cartoon character, but still... how can he even stand up with such a big head?

Uh, anyway, everything is adorable as usual. I want to pet the spider. :D

And he has no wings. Just arms with hands instead.

The Roadrunner looks closest to him real-life counterpart. It's one of the reasons I really liked him ♥

I don't think I'd have the courage to do the spider program. I could watch from afar, but I don't think I could hold a spider. I'm getting all freaked out just typing that.

My tentacles are not into spiders.

Is it true that tarantulas will break if you drop them? :(

They can, yes. "A fall from a height of three feet or more can burst the abdomen of the spider. If your tarantula’s abdomen ruptures your spider will die a few hours later." (http://www.tarantulaguide.com/handling-pet-tarantulas/)

I love coyotes. And Wile E. Coyote! One of my favorite. I always felt bad that he never won.
