How do you mean "setting yourself up for disappointment"? Excuse me if this sounds to candid, but why would you set yourself up at all? I would bet you all the dollars I ever will own and have owned that they are not going to be a couple at all, in any way, ever in that movie. Why not just enjoy the pairing as you see fit, without hoping they are canonical?

Or do you mean you worry that there will be no fandom or shipping for it?

Yeah. Not OP, but I recently saw the extended trailer and it looks like a generic boy meets girl, dad doesn't approve, and shenanigans ensue story. The plot may be enemic, but I still think the animation looks awesome.
