The whole way you phrased this is exactly what I'm talking about. Referring to non-acting jobs as "menial" and "not affecting my life." Fixing someone's toilet is just as important as playing an angel on some silly-ass, poorly written TV show (just using Misha Collins as an example here because that's who was in the secret).

I live in ABC town. Someone fixing a toilet in XYZville is not going to affect my life at all. This actor whose show is broadcast across the world, and therefore something that I can actually experience, now that means something to me, personally.

Are you saying you don't thank janitors or custodians? Because that's just common courtesy. If you think what someone does is important, why don't you thank them?

I don't see it so much that stars are put on a pedestal as less glamorous jobs, especially minimum wage and "unskilled" jobs, are seen as beneath everyone else.

I think I replied to the wrong comment, actually. Someone said something about not thanking people for the menial job that in no way affects them. Except I don't know of many workplaces, religious organizations, clubs, restaurants, or school systems that don't have some sort of cleaning staff, so there is someone who affects their life.
