(Anonymous) 2012-06-29 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)Secondly: If someone is trying to rape you, and then for some reason they're like "Okay, I should stop doing this" then that's still attempted rape. They were in the process of raping you and stopped for whatever reason. That's kind of what attempted rape means. Changing his mind midway through doesn't change what he was trying to do.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-29 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)I think what's confusing other anon is that "attempted" has the connotation of "tried and failed because of outside forces" as opposed to like, deciding to stop themselves.
It's a difference, somebody attempting then stopping on their own, and somebody attempting and being forced to stop that would have gone on willingly otherwise.
I don't know how to put that into concise words though.
