I have friends who go to all the big cons and whenever they proudly proclaim I GOT MY PICTURE TAKEN WITH [star] or whatever and it turns out they paid for it, I just...have no idea what the appeal is there. Yeah, you got their autograph. Anybody with some cash could manage that feat. It's just so impersonal and seems like such a waste of money.

Anyway, sometimes their accounts will hit my embarrasment squick but sometimes not. It really depends on why they're there and what they're hoping to get out of the con.
