I definitely felt Amon/Lieutenant and Korra/Lin more strongly than any of the less-cracky pairings in the fandom.

Edit: Also, I don't know how many of you guys noticed this, but AMON TOTALLY SQUISHED HIS ORGANS WITH BLOODBENDING. HOLY CRAP.

That's what I think - but half of the fandom thinks that the Lieutenant was crying because he really loved Amon.

Maybe he did - but I think the immediate danger of my vital organs would make me cry sooner than a lost love!

Yeah, I was surprised at how bad I felt for him too (since, you know, he was a bit of a dick).

I was also a little surprised that I cried when Noatok and Tarrlok died. Congrats on getting me to shed a tear for the two biggest douchebags on the show, LoK

I think it's that showing Tarrlok realizing that they were too far gone in the cycle of revenge to be redeemed and was outright TIRED of it done me in.

Too bad that the rest of the season finale was an outright mess... well outside General Iroh kicking ass.

Amon and his lieutenant had like more chemistry that Makkora it's kinda sad.

I'm mostly just hoping they'll follow up on the equalist storyline and the fact that as a movement they had a srsly legit point, to be honest.

But yeah I felt really bad for that guy. :( I hope he shows up again. And is not dead from internal organ-squishage.

All I thought about when I saw him was that he looked pretty cute

I felt bad for him too, but I also enjoyed his scene there. He didn't suddenly turn to the "good guy" side, he reacted like a normal follower would when finding out their leader was a big fat liar: calling the guy out and trying to attack him. I enjoyed that a lot. Especially since most of the finale was full of bad characterization, writing, and things that just made me REALLY ANGRY.

All I want is for him to be in the second season. Yeah, he was squished up a bit but, c'mon, he can survive from that. He would make for an interesting story, as in, I gave up my whole life to you, now what? Plus, he's voiced by Lance Henriksen. Lieutenant will always be cool in my book just for that fact.

Yeah, I felt for mustache-dude. Granted, I thought he was pretty cool to begin with, but they really play up his feeling of betrayal in that scene.

Lok is very weird, it got me feeling so much for pretty much every character except the main four. Especially the villains, Tarrlok, Amon, the Lieutenant I shed a tear for all of them. And don't even get me started on Tahno, that one minute scene in the Aftermath was like the biggest emotional blow to me. I'm still upset they did nothing with him or his story. So much potential wasted.

True that, this scene broke my heart. And the boat scene too. I love all the antagonists in this series man... ;A;

I feel bad for being interested in the bad guys much more than Korra. It's not I don't like her and her krew, but it really doesn't feel like it's her story. She was an outsider who got cough up in a war, I didn't feel much emotional motivation for her to be involved at all, it's not like Republic City was her home or anything. Unlike say Tarrlok who acted on his beliefs and with the aim of protecting his city. He wasn't doing it the right way mind you... just he had strong emotions linked to all of his actions. While Korra motivation is her duty as the Avatar... I don't really feel she'd be much interested in the whole equalist movement otherwise. The Fire Ferret brothers have even less motivation to be there... like why are you guys strung along here, isn't it dangerous, wouldn't any person with common sense stay away from this?

The Lieutenant was definitely a character I found interesting in this series and would have liked to see more of him. I'm pretty sure Amon killed him, sadly. Though I suppose the Lieutenant might have known what he was getting himself into by attacking Amon in the first place...

It's also my personal headcanon that the Lieutenant willingly gave up his bending in order to become an Equalist and that Tahno is his estranged son whom he can't completely bring himself to hate. Feelbending: family trade.

And now I'll just... be over here. Writing some drabbles.

Oh, I absolutely agree. It made me want to see THEIR story, how they met, how they built up the Equalists. Because honestly, their characters had more subtlety to them than even some of the main characters. It's fascinating to see it play out at the end.

Cruised the threads and didn't see any recs, and I'm needing some Amon/Lieutenant in the worst possible way right now. Any good fics out there?

:D I came out of that finale wanting to know more about The Lieutenant. I hope he's in Season 2.

A lot of people, even hardcore Makorra shippers, have said that they made Amon and the Lieutenant's relationship more deep and complex in that one minute than Makorra over all twelve episodes.

The great thing about fandom is that a couple of lines from an otherwise flat character can open up so many possibilities for an intriguing background story.

Having gone through something similar recently, I feel even more for him now. :( Of course, it doesn't excuse what he did-- but man, does it suck.
