My reading speed is pretty good and I just can't listen to podfic or audiobooks because they are so slow! I have no patience for that.

If someone were to ask about podficcing my stuff...hm, I don't know. Maybe I would say yes for the same reason as you, OP. But I still wouldn't listen, because in my head I hear my fic read in my own voice and somehow I can't imagine listening to them in someone else's. No danger of that happening, though, unless people have started to podfic 100 word drabbles now. *g*

I did an audiofic once but I had to keep stopping and re-recording because I speak way too fast to be understood by any normal human being.

I never listen to anyone else's audiofics though, mostly because I'm a voice snob. I even hate my own voice. I just wanted to read a funny, PG fic. Reading porn aloud... no. I couldn't do it.

Uh yeah, reading to others or talking to an audience...I have to constantly remind myself to slow down, even if it seems unnatural to me.

*g* I like my internal voice a lot (and I love talking, singing), but I have mixed emotions about my external voice. Mostly I try to avoid listening to any recordings of myself.

Oh, this too! I read faster than most people talk, and I like to speed through stories, and often recordings are way slower than I like.

Exactly! Not that I think of it as "speeding" in the sense of "hurrying" through stories, I'm just a fast reader (despite being EFL - listening to recordings in German is trying my patience even more).

Yeah, I meant speeding as in compared to others. You know what I mean. :) I talk fast and I read fast, so I really just don't think audio-centric media is for me, lol.

Hee. I'm told that when I was a little kid and had learned to read, I still wanted my parents to read to me. So I'd make them sit down with me and a book and then when they were halfway through one page, I'd be like "Next page!" because I'd already finished reading both visible pages. :P I always had that problem when people had to read aloud in class too, and although with audiobooks at least you don't have the words in front of you to read ahead, the slowness was still frustrating. (Holy crap, we couldn't even get all the way through the first Harry Potter audiobook over the course of a 1000-mile road trip.)

That's the main reason I don't listen to podfic or audio books. As for someone asking to read my work, I'd be flattered and say yes but almost all my fic is romance and I'd be way to embarrassed to listen.

Someone did once ask, though for some reason they never ended up doing it which is just as well.

*g* Especially when it comes to listening to romantic dialogue, I imagine.
