It's pretty sad that you feel the need to include a caveat about "not being a feminist or anything." If you believe that everyone deserves equal rights, that's the definition of a feminist. If you feel uncomfortable calling yourself that, help change people's perceptions of what feminists are and what they do by standing up for the word and what you think. Hiding behind disclaimers just strengthens the power of people who say "feminazi" with a straight face and get away with it.

Are you really doing FemShep any favors by saying that?

Agreed. Avoiding the term "feminist" because some people who use it are extreme and hold viewpoints you don't agree with is pretty cowardly. You are allowing hateful people to appropriate a positive label and the way to fight that is by holding on to the term while living by example.

Agreed and adding: if you're uncomfortable calling yourself a feminist, just leave it totally out of the equation. The "not being a feminist or anything" is completely unnecessary. There's just no reason to add that.

I can understand why some people who fit my understanding of the term choose not to identify as feminist, but there are some really unpleasant implications to people explicitly disavowing themselves of feminism while espousing feminist views. OP, if you don't want to identify as feminist, that's your business, but please don't act like those of us who do identify as feminist are somehow distasteful.
