That's a rather cynical outlook on fandom. If they do, then when people call themselves a "slash fan" it would be equal to liking all slash, same for "het fan", etc.

Hm. I think it works more like sexual orientation does. Maybe I only like women that way, or have a strong preference for dating women rather than men. But that doesn't mean every woman I see is going to be someone I want to date.

So you can only like slash or whatever, but you're not going to end up shipping every boy/boy pair that exists.
