Yeah, because a show supposedly centered on a female Avatar needs plenty-o'-manpain, brotherly, fatherly -- the manliest of manly manpains.

I personally really loved Korra's complex, dramatic, non-rushed story and how downplayed the romantic aspects were for the female characters.

Hell, at least Korra and Asami had other things going on besides just romance (all the avatar shit for Korra and Asami's sad as fuck thing with her father). It seemed like Mako's only purpose was to be a romantic interest. And Bolin was just kind of...there for a while

Mako was the one two save Korra from Amon. He was the reason she could finally get that spiritual push to airbend. Asami was originally just a love interest for Mako. I'm glad Mako broke up with her, so her story changed a little. But then again I'm part of the fandom that actually likes the show and characters. Hm.

Now I'm gonna go cry. Because I wanted the show to rock, I was so excited, and after the first few episodes my little doubts turned into major annoyances and gripes and then I was so ANGRY and upset ...

Aside from the fact that it was rushed, I completely disagree with everything you said. I don't think the romantic elements were that consuming, but considering the show stars a group of teenagers, frankly I would've been surprised if there was no romantic tension. Better than the first series where Aang, a 12 year old boy, is macking on Korra at the end. wtf, unnecessary. Additionally, the story was much more complex than the "good vs evil fire nation" plot line of the first series...

And I don't even get your first sentence. Because there's a female protagonist, there can't be moments between men? another wtf.

All joking aside, I don't see why people are so grossed out by a 13 year old boy having romantic relations with someone. Do you people not spend ANY time with kids?
