Not OP, but this sort of thinking between people only really works out if both can be open minded and willing to try things for the sake of the other. When you're in a situation where you're willing to give something a chance, but the other person won't for you then all that's going to happen is you'll feel resentment for doing something you know they wouldn't do for you. Not all people are like that, but I'd say most are. And it's only fair for there to be some give and take.

The OP's situation sounds like from previous posts that even if they gave in and sat and watched Spiderman that if the roles were reversed their friend wouldn't. It would be a gamble. They could go watch it and it might not be so bad and they could enjoy it. Except if they go watch it and it's complete crap they'll blame their friend for wasting their time. Sometimes in those situations it's best to go with the sure winner and avoid the movie altogether.
