I've been out of FMA fandom for a while, but alchemist_elite was an elitist fanworks community when I was around the fandom (I'm not sure if they're still active). Most of the fandom BNFs were in it. I'm sure most people in the community didn't intend to be negative, but the entire idea of using a test to determine whether or not you were worthy of being a part of the comm seems very clique-ish and exclusive to me now. Why should my merit as a fan be determined by someone else? The whole attitude isn't just found there, though, you can see it all throughout the fandom. It's the main reason I left.

Yeah... Luckily for me I'd never heard of it. Though you've seemed to sum it up quite nicely. I've never really gotten the definition of a BNF, though I understand generally what it means-

From what I know, the popular writers are fairly nice and all-around accepting, but I don't tend to read any of their work anyway. I'm really only in any FMA-fandom-relations via RP. Wank free and drama-safe (at least, for now) RPs, that is.
