If you're interested in comics, there's a few recurring characters in the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman who've achieved immortality by one means or another and their lives aren't portrayed as evil or self-destructive.

More specifically, look for Vol. 2/The Doll's House- the characters established there pop up throughout the rest of the series, but this is where the main immortal character gets a story to himself.

Oh, hey, thank you! :) I read the first volume of Sandman and liked it, but not enough to go looking for more, and that might be incentive to do so.

Pretty late, but you might also be interested in the manga/anime Baccano. Most of the main cast is immortal and they're all protrayed as regular people.
