LOL. That's fine.

No kidding on Makorra though. I mean we never really get a real apology from Mako to Asami, his 'apology' was rather passive in fact. Their break up scene utterly vague.

He... just really needs someone to chew him out a bit and for him to take it on board for one. Asami did a bit, but I don't think it really got through to him that what he didn't wasn't cool. I mean he doesn't realise that honesty in a relationship is important. And honestly Asami is a big girl. I'm sure she'd have rathered an honest friend with the slight awkwardness of being your ex while times were rough then say a lying boyfriend. And talking about their issues? Doesn't take long at all. Mako it seems deflects conflict to others or makes them feel bad for bringing it to the table. I mean people can get on Aang's case when it comes to how he deals with some conflicts because of his own feelings of guilt. When he got angry it was for understandable reasons I think most people can sympathise with. He's a kid who lost everything being asked to go against everything he's been taught to know from his people. And the Avatar state is terrifying for him for that exact reason. Lying in season one to Katara and Sokka about the letter TORE HIM UP eventually. And he admitted to it, and they got mad and it was treated as a bad thing. Mako... gets away with far too much. Aang wouldn't get away with half the things Mako does. Or deflect the same way Mako did.

Like say Mako getting ticked at Bolin for blabbing. Aang took it to heart sometimes and in fact in some ways felt too much for what people were saying. Aang cared perhaps too much sometimes and blames himself for important serious matters when it's really, really messed up that a 12 year old has to take that sort of responsibility (like say in The Storm and the old man)... Mako just really doesn't care enough in order to deal with ~relationship drama~ which is solved in five minutes at age 18. People in the fandom often got on Aang's case for being immature... but honestly he was a million times more mature than Mako when there's supposed to be a 6 year age difference.

In the end because his relationship with Bolin could have made him engaging like Iroh did to Zuko but as Bolin got shafted, so unfortunately did a lot of Mako's potential likeability. There's little to root for in Mako's case beyond the fact we're more or less -told- or his hard past rather than shown. Oh yeah, and he's hot and a good firebender. (Personally I LOLd though when Amon praised him). It's difficult to get into Mako's head, and things like the announcer in episode 5 saying Mako liked Korra that way like it was obvious didn't help.

Korra might be Aang's opposite in some ways but so is Mako IMO. He's like the poor man's male Katara too. Supposed to be more parental to both Bolin and Korra but is more condescending/less important and doesn't feel real like Katara does. And I'm not sure they're actually compatible just yet even without the cheating just yet because they barely feel like friends atm. But without it, they perhaps could have developed their relationship in a more organic way as well as removing the main reason their relationship is problematic. I mean if we can fall in love with a couple in a movie within 90 minutes...

I WANT to like Mako and Makorra and I don't even despise him myself but it'll probably be season 2 if that happens at all.

One big difference between Aang and Mako: Aang was 12, Mako is 18. People should have HIGHER expectations of him and his maturity. I'm really surprised so many people called Aang immature - no shit, guys, he's TWELVE. (I wasn't involved in the fandom at the time, so I missed a lot of this.)

You are spot-on about Bolin. He had a lot of potential, and he got shafted big-time. I adore sibling relationships and they basically threw this one away. And it also would have been one of the best things about Mako, being an awesome big bro - but they never really showed that part. u_u

The only cool thing Mako ever did imo was Lightningbend. Those moments were really awesome! I love lightning and what Firebenders are able to do with it. However, that was really it, and it didn't make up for him being a world-class asshole to both Asami and Korra (and what you said about his behavior was spot-on; I'm not going to rehash it, for the sake of time). Aside from the Lightningbending I didn't think his bending was even that impressive. Zuko and Azula both had way more to show at a younger age, and in LoK Iroh came in and stole the Firebending show as far as I'm concerned.

I liked Makorra in the first few episodes, though I also felt it was forced/they were ship-teasing us way too early. But I really just stopped liking it completely as the show went on. =/ I don't think future seasons will make me love the ship, though maybe they'll make me hate Mako a little less. Maybe. He needs a good kick in the arse and a sense of humility and responsibility. And he needs to grow up - but then, they could all benefit form that, I think. Korra is no exception here.
