aww Bolin :( :( :( I honestly hated the writers for having Mako be an absolute douche and string Asami along. The whole Korra/Mako thing was so forced, it would have been better if they left it as an unrequited crush or if she and Bolin ended up together.

I'm glad Bolin didn't end up with Korra. It would have been Kataang 2.0, just...been there done that. I love how they show you don't always end up with the first person you date. And honestly, Mako apologized to Asami. They just...weren't much else past smoopy kissy faces. Ultimately he cared for Asami, but he wasn't in love with her. Korra and Bolin were great BFFs, but Korra just wasn't in love with him. I have friends I get along with great, but I'd never date them, there's just...no romantic interest :P

/One of the few who actually likes how the series ended with Makorra, heh

Honestly, I would have been more pissed if the writers had Korra pining for Mako but never actually getting him. Aang got Katara (even though IMO she didn't seem as interested until the last season) so why shouldn't Korra get Mako?

I feel like if they continued to explore Borra (and never introduced Asami), I would eventually get bored of the nice guy and root for Makorra instead.

Why do their stories have to be exactly the same, anyway?

What would have been wrong with an unrequited crush on Korra's part - maybe eventually finding someone else she wants to be with? That's more *realistic* anyway and it's an important part of growing up.

Agreed. I actually don't even think Mako "strung Asami along", at least not to the extent fandomsecrets accuses him of. He genuinely liked Asami, and liked being with her. His feelings for Korra were not sorted out at all, and besides, once he had committed to Asami, and he liked her, why should he have broken up with her just because he thought he might like Korra, too? It isn't until Korra's threatened that he realizes he really cares about her, but even then he still likes Asami. It is possible to like two people at the same time, le gasp.

It's possible to like two people at the same time, yes...but I think Mako was playing them. He should have been more upfront with Asami earlier than he was.

...Honestly? At least the times I've seen it discussed on F!S [I can't comment for elsewhere, since I haven't really set foot in the fandom], it's less him liking two people that makes people say he was 'stringing her along' and more the fact he wasn't upfront about it, and both got upset at his brother for 'tattling' on him, and dismissed Asami's feelings towards it.

tl;dr: There's a wrong way and a right way to handle situations like that, and Mako choose the wrong one.

Forced is a good way to put it. "Hey, Korra is in love with Ma-, wait, when did that happe- Mako loves her back? HOW? WHY?"

It would've been cool if they had played her crush on Mako in the beginning as just that - teenager crush for the mysterious broody guy she barely knows. But no, it's tru wub!
