Um.

I feel like I was him, once, in an AU past life

Flashbacks to the FF7 House (I clicked the link here a few weeks ago, was literally traumatized). If you're not trolling OP, look into it. See if you're still wondering if it's "bad". It's great that you've figured out that you might be trans and it's not narcissism to want to love your own body!! but taking it that far is a sign you're losing touch with reality. Reality isn't that bad OP, I promise.

OP (maker of secret)

As I was saying above, I really do not want to be like any of those people. It's more that finding him and identifying with him has made me very happy, and I feel a lot better because of it. I have no desire to change myself physically in any way like that (except a haircut I did once, but I learned my hair grows too quickly to maintain it), just that I feel comforted in having something in my heart/mind to fall back on.

*hopefully isn't too strange*

well I'm glad your aware of where all this soulbonding otherkin etc can lead, but to be honest just all of this "he completes me" stuff is still too out there for me. I don't think you need to transition to be trans or to have a male persona, you should have whatever gender expression you want, don't let anyone tell you different.

But just because of how you phrased your secret, I have to say this: I don't know FF7, but it's a video game. I love shows and video games too, but fandom and my own imagination are what give them life. They aren't alive, they had no past lives, they aren't in a fucking alternate multiverse.

So I'm glad you're not otakukin, anyway, that stuff really freaks me out. Hopefully with time you're able to get more comfortable with yourself and move on to a role model that isn't japanese animation. My transitioning friend tells me there are some great youtube channels, if you're interested.

That makes me wonder exactly what's wrong with having a role model that's "Japanese animation." I'm not really interested in the Youtube channels, though I appreciate the gesture.

As for the alternate multiverse, it's mostly an idea I play with. I feel like I can believe it without being one of the kookoo-batshit people out there; considering the type of fanfiction I write, it's not like I'm worried about what "happens" to them. XD

I guess as far as I see it, considering I'm not nor do I plan to "hurt" anyone with these things, I don't see why I can't believe them. I'm a mellow and lazy person in real life.

well I'm an atheist, so I'm really ill-equipped to get into some kind of spiritual discussion about being comforted by your beliefs of different plants of existence. It makes me uncomfortable, but I guess it's fandom!secrets and I'm not going to be the fandom police telling you "this level of crazy and no further" lol. Also yeah, obv there are many levels of batshit higher than just thinking it exists.

As for role models, I don't think it's wrong to have fantastical ideas, such as idealizing a masculine character. I think that escapist fantasies are a coping mechanism? I think it would be better for you to eventually be able to identify as masculine without calling that masculinity "Zack Fair". I, like most people, have bad associations with people who use escapist fantasy to deal with their lives/identities their entire lives.
