Eeeehhhh I don't hate on Mako. I hated how he was written after episode 5 and how he pretty much got away with Emotional Infidelity and canon made it ok for him to do so. Canon never really explored why he wasn't okay with dating Korra, even if she was emotionally available and he was willing. And they were gonna hook up in the finale anyway. :|||

Also adding here because I don't wanna keep editing my comment:

LoK focussed too much in romance and too little in resolving plot lines and Deus ex Machina. I have no idea what this turtle/dragon/washing machine/thing episode people talk about, and I didn't ship much in tLA to compare ships (Outside of crackships but shhh) but LoK had a lot of plot related flaws. Hand waving them just because "lol you're just complaining because shipping!" or "lol you're just comparing to AtLA" doesn't sit well with me.

I mean, lets face it, they might as well call this Legend of Korra Book One: Bad Fic because that's how it felt to me.

Basically the episodes at the end of A:tLA is what everyone keeps referring too. I've never actually seen them myself, but my understanding is that they pulled this Lion-turtle out of no where to teach Aang energy bending in...a very short amount of time. Not quite the five minutes and '-BOOM- YOU CAN BEND AGAIN' bad, but still not great.
