One of the many things that bothers me about Makorra and Mako in general is that Mako only got romantic ship teasing moments with Korra when Korra was at her weakest. She's confused by her first crush having grown up pretty isolated and kisses him. She's half-dead from exhaustion and being kidnapped and he carries her off. She has her bending taken away. Mako's all over her THEN, but not when she's being badass. Know who's all over Korra when she's being badass? Bolin.
A guy who's attracted to weakness is not good boyfriend material.
Well, maybe "weakness" isn't the word I'm looking for, but he seemed more comfortable with Korra when she was fitting into his preconceived notions of femininity, like Asami, instead of when she was taking care of herself. Note that when Asami revealed herself to be a badass herself, and Korra got kidnapped and all weak, Mako started ignoring Asami and fawning over Korra.

Mako also started acting less into Asami once she was estranged from her father and no longer swimming in the lap of luxury! ;) And Mako himself said it "makes more sense" for him to date Asami rather than Korra.

My only semi-serious point being that Mako just swims in actions that could be interpreted in a very poor light.

I don't really think so. We got our first ship-teasing moment with Mako after Korra revealed how kick-ass she was at bending. Then there were all the ship-teasing moments in the third episode when it was just Korra and Mako: kicking ass and taking names (to save Bolin).

Then, when Mako "officially" (?) breaks up with Asami, it's to go with Korra to do her most badass thing: confront Amon.

Honestly, I think the only correlation (Korralation? Heh.) between Korra having weak moments and Mako accepting his feelings for her is that both of those storylines happened to be running at the same time, though they were decidedly separate.

Also, the whole "Mako fussing over Korra after she'd been kidnapped" is just the cliche "Now that they're in danger I ONLY JUST REALIZED HOW MUCH I CARE!" thing.
