Not that I can provide any examples of good fantasy literature, because I still read shit books to this day! Just in different genres. ....oh who am I kidding I just read porn ANYWAY

Oh God, I read the Last Herald Mage trilogy just for the slash, and only stuck with it until the end because I damned well started it and bought all three books in one go. I literally laughed when Tylendel died. Then again, I was never one for the mystical animal bond thing.
