Well, anon, I love it because of the world. I won't deny that Majora's Mask has its issues, and I can understand how some of the gameplay mechanics can turn people off, but I have to disagree that it's not all that good.

(Though I will say that some of its fans can get obnoxious. You're not a special snowflake just because you prefer Majora's Mask to Ocarina of Time.)

i honestly agree! the game wasn't /that/ good, it was fun and nice, yeah, but it wasn't nearly as special and great as so many people say nowendays. it has gone from underrated to overrated pretty quickly.

I love it because it's not another goddamn LttP rehash and actually does something DIFFERENT. Also because it reminds me of watching Don Bluth films growing up.

Oh your god, I had so much trouble getting the Deity Link mask because of the goron rolling edge bit. It goes by so quickly, I'd always fall off the edge. My thumb was blistered before I finally did it @_@

imo, Majora's Mask is the best Legend of Zelda game because it's not the standard LoZ game.

Plus I have fond memories of helping my mom play the game (and by that, me reading the guide to her while she played the game) when I was younger, so... =V

But, I do get why people might not like it. The time travel mechanic takes a lot of getting used to, and you pretty much have to get everything in order to get the best outcome. *shakes fist at the farm quests*

Heh... I do like Majora's Mask (it's in my top five Zelda games), but people can get pretty... rabid about it. None of the commentors here, but the ones who go OMG MAJORA'S MASK IS THE GREATEST THING IN CREATION AND IF YOU DISAGREE YOU CLEARLY HATE LIFE YOU POPULARIST FUCK need to sit down and chill.

People can like what they like. That's what makes fandom fun - people sharing different views! It'd be boring if everyone liked the same stuff!

Anyway. If anyone gives you trouble about not liking MM that much, just ignore 'em? They're not worth it if they're going to hassle you over video games, seriously.

I didn't like it either. I got stuck very early on and found that I just didn't care about getting unstuck.

The gameplay is recycled, that's why it doesn't play like any other Zelda game?

Seriously the basic 3d controls are the same but the gameplay itself and the way it's laid out are completely different. It's probably the second most unique Zelda game.

Also, glad to know you're the arbiter of taste. You're free not to like it. No, really, go nuts. But how does it make sense for you to hate people declaring it good, then declare it bad?

I love the Zelda franchise but I completely agree. I really wanted to like that game but could not get into that game because of the mechanics/gameplay/whatever. Time limits are already something I am not really fond of but only being able to save under certain circumstances really kept me from continuing. I really liked watching my brother play it though... unfortunately the game would freeze up and because of the saving conditions he would lose hours of gameplay :\ That being said I don't doubt it's a good game. I don't even really dislike it, I just couldn't get into it. To each their own.

There was just too much crap to deal with. I like side quests, but that thing got ridiculous. And then you had to repeat every. Single. One. in all meticulous details ...

I'm just now getting into all of the old Zelda games, and I'm actually playing Majora's Mask on the Wii virtual console this summer. Let me say that I definitely understand what you mean about "too much busy work." All of the many many many many many many sidequests, most of which aren't even that fun (it literally took me hours to finally win at the doggy racetrack, even though I know the trick), combined with the fact that you can't really save the game without restarting everything (I've had to beat the first two bosses three times each at this point), means that you have to play the game on the game's terms, not on your terms. The concept of the game is incredible, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I'm guessing that the people who love the game are remembering the cool concept and characters and forgetting how mindlessly difficult and pointless stuff like the Deku Scrub Playground is.

MM is unappreciated? Every LoZ fan I know has it as their favourite, or top 3 at least.

Recycled gameplay? In a Zelda game? You don't say. You realize Nintendo has been remaking the same game since 1986, right?

Yeah... I mean, it's not a *bad* Zelda game, and certainly not a bad game, but I found it stopped being fun and started being frustrating way quicker than I would have liked.

It'd be the main reason I'd want to get a 3DS- if there is ever going to be a remake.

I don't either because it felt tedious instead of entertaining and I couldn't for the life of me figure out a coherent storyline (kind of an important thing for me in games). But then, I also don't like Wind Waker, which I've heard almost nothing but praise for online, so I guess my taste in Zelda games is flawed. Eh.

I love it because it's creepy. The 3 day limit was the new Seven Days. Also, I loved riding around with Epona around Termina Field while doing some thinking. It was relaxing. Also Bunny Hood.

I don't know anything about this "fandom" community but my girlfriend showed me this secret and I felt someone had to say: You're wrong. Best game ever! Yeah. Go play whatever cookie cutter Oot(Lttp) adventure clone has the best graphics currently but MM actually was unique and brilliant.
