There was just too much crap to deal with. I like side quests, but that thing got ridiculous. And then you had to repeat every. Single. One. in all meticulous details ...

...No, you didn't have to repeat them. Once you got the mask, unless there was another mask involved in the opposite line.

Also, you don't HAVE to do the sidequests unless you want a virtual godmode for the Majora fight.

Eh? The only things you really have to repeat are part of the Kafei and Anju quest, and redo the boss battles to free up the regions. (Just the battles, not the temples, and they get progressively easier as you get used to them and get more health.)
