i don't even need both of them to be girls but really making john the girl was a bs problematic move, there would be so many less complaints if sherlock had been the woman.

Is it problematic because Watson as a character would fit more neatly into a female archetype tnan Holmes?

Because I agree with that. Watson could be made a woman much easier than Sherlock Holmes.

I haven't seen much of elementary yet, but when I saw Lucy Liu she gave me a Sherlock vibe much more than a Watson one, it's a bit of a shame. :/

I've never seen it so I have no idea of the quality, but you could check out The Adventures of Shirley Holmes maybe? *shrug*

Shirley was pretty much my first exposure to Sherlock Holmes. I don't remember much, since it showed in between some other cartoons I liked better, but I kind of wish I could see it again.
