Guh, I love that fanartist.

More to the point: I like Dean/Cas...I do think the shippers stretch it sometimes. Like sometimes there's a moment that deserves a lot of appreciation because it shows how much they care about each other, plain and simple, and it gets turned into "If you don't see this as being slashy you're crazy." This is hardly unique to SPN fandom, I just think it's odd that I see a lot more of this attitude with Dean/Cas than with Sam/Dean (I mean, incest doesn't usually stop certain kinds of fans from trying to argue that it's canon, does it?) And generally I don't give a crap, if you want to think it's canon you can go ahead and do that (ahem "the angel whose in love with you") but when there is seemingly a low tolerance of appreciating it as a bromance I think that's kind of sad.

I often watch Supernatural and think to myself “man, I don't know how people who aren't into slash can stand this show!” because all of the Sam/Dean and Dean/Cas innuendo and eye-f*cking seem so blatant and overt to me! But, eh, I have slash goggles and I'm glad that other people can see the same thing and interpret it in other ways and enjoy their interpretation. Basically, I think that good actors portray their feelings as being very INTENSE, no matter what the nature of the relationship is supposed to be, and thus it can be interpreted in many different ways. Chemistry is chemistry, you know?

The fact that I am a bit of a Dean/Cas shipper aside, I think that people who claim that it is cannon are kind of...not taking the climate of American network television into account. The show made A LOT of jokes, in season 6 especially (see your quote above) about Cas being in love with Dean...and then in season 7 they seemed to be trying to take it back or something, being all like CAS IS STRAIGHT NOW Y'ALL!!! HE IS STRAIGHT! What with having him be married (to a woman) and then in love with Meg. I actually kind of love the Meg/Cas storyline, especially since, as I stated, it's not like Dean/Cas will ever actually be cannon, but to me it's just weird how all of season 6 the writers seemed to love making Dean/Cas references, and then they did a complete 180 into straights-ville for Cas in season 7. Not bad weird, just like, jarring. But I haven't talked to anyone else who noticed this, so...maybe I'm crazy.
