LOVE the humanity the Fire Nation had in Avatar. It was rare to see Fire Nation mooks portrayed as Just Plain Bad Guys. All those little moments with the soldiers reminding you that, yeah, they're people too.

I think the best bit is in the comic set right after the series, where Zuko decides to return the Fire Nation colonies to the Earth Kingdom to Set Things Right. But it turns out...some of those colonies have been around for so long that the Fire and Earth folks have inter-married, they've got a good thing going on, and yeah, the Earth Kingdom natives get a shorter end of the stick, but no one really wants the Fire Nation to up and leave.
