Re: SO WHO HERE HAS EVER SEEN A 'GHOST'?

Not a spiritual presence, no visible presence, but to this day I have no idea how it happened.

I was home alone, my room was on the second floor. One parent at work, the other and my brother were grocery shopping. I was in my room, sitting on my bed, doing my math homework. Math book, calculator, compass, pencils, the whole nine yards.

The phone rings. This is back in the day before cell phones. I go downstairs, answer the phone. Go right back upstairs to finish my homework before mum gets home.

My stuff is gone. I notice that my underwear drawer is open just a bit because my hip catches on it when I walk by, so I open it.

My math book, notes, pencils and calculator are all put away nice and neat, underneath all of my underwear.

I nope'd the hell out of the house until my mom got home. Her explanation was that she was haunted by a ghost named David who was a pervert and used to hide shit in her underwear drawer. (I have my mom's old bedroom from when she was a child.) There is no way anyone could have gotten upstairs to dick with my stuff even if someone was home, because the phone was at the bottom of the steps.

I would kill for a logical explanation to this because as of yet I can't come up with a single good one that makes a modicum of sense.

Oh fuck, I would have gotten the hell out of there as well. What scares me about your situation isn't the possibility of a ghost or something, but thinking it was a real person is sending chills down my spine.

The thing that really bothers me is that unless someone was hiding in my brother's room since I got home (which I guess is a possibility?) there is no way anyone could have gotten past me up those stairs without me noticing them. And when this happened my brother was only 9 or 10, so he wouldn't have had friends hanging around our house waiting for him.

(Also, if it WAS someone, why was nothing ever stolen? What point is there to dick with a freshman's math homework? AHHH IT BOTHERS ME TO THIS DAY.)

What about the window to your room? You might say "it can't be possible to climb up", but you never know, some people are very skilled at that.
And maybe it wasn't a burglar? Perhaps it was a stalker, or someone with a grudge against you. Still creepy as all fuck though.

The windows at my parents' house are those old fashioned crank windows with screens in. (this is an example, the window did not open more than ten inches out with dual-panes and a screen in)

This is one of those things that I have gone over again and again, heh. My mother is absolutely convinced it was her "pervert ghost" who hid her car keys in her underwear drawer all the time.

Ah, I see, there's no way anyone could come in then.
Well, at least all you got out of it was a scare, and you weren't injured in any way. That would have been much worse.

holy shit. I would have jumped out a window if it meant getting out of the house faster

My first honest instinct was that my brother was fucking with me, and I even yelled his name, expecting him to come crawling out from under my bed or something.

Then I remembered I saw him leave with my mom to go to the grocery store.

That was the point I decided that my presence was very urgently needed down the street at my best friend's house because OH SO MUCH NOPE.

I mean, it's scary both ways, if it was a person hiding in your house or something else.

But hey, at least that's all that happened and nothing worse 0:
