My mom had some experiences as a child and is now crazy about ghost shows. I don't know what she expects to happen if they ever find something it'll be huge news long before the episode airs.

The closest experience I've ever had was the one night we were driving towards Marfa to see the supposed ghost lights. I fell asleep and about fifteen minutes later she shook me awake panicking. I ask her what's going on and she tells me there is a light next to the car and that it is maintaining the same speed as us no matter how fast or slow she goes. I look over and it takes me about a minute to realize it's the moon being reflected off of a set of train tracks.

I do have an unexplained crush on Ryan Burell. I kinda want to report a ghost in my pants to see if he will come "investigate".

Never seen a ghost, but I've felt its presence. And 3/4 of the people who were with me felt the same (the other was asleep). I won't go into a whole amount of detail (unless you want that, it's fine), but we were road tripping overnight and we stopped at a small park cause there was so much fog, and something 'followed' us back into the car when we left.

I believe I've seen quite a few. Once when I was younger, I saw one pacing in my bathroom, of all places! I've also had voices call me upstairs when I stayed up too late, felt a hand on my brow when I was sick and alone in the house, woken up to an orb hovering next to my bed and have been actually catapulted up a few feet in bed by an invisible force (I think the ghosts really took offense to my singing lol. I totally don't blame them one bit). I've also seen see-through ranch hands walk across roadways and felt a cat run across my bed in a cat-less home.

I can definitely understand why people are skeptical, though. Proof can be hard to come by and most of the time it seems like it'd be really easy to fake. Plus, you only have the word of the person who experienced whatever-it-was to go by, and it's easy for people to dismiss things like that out of hand by saying they were tired or overexcited or something. Plus, I'm kind of a firm believer that skeptics will stay so until something weird happens to them. It's definitely different when you can see or hear something strange with your own senses, versus just getting hearsay from some stranger.

(My Mom totally eats those shows up like nobody's business. They're almost always on over here and they can definitely freak me out lol)

Well I did, but I was diagnosed with psychosis at the time, and was hallucinating from sleep deprivation - so grain of salt and all that.

Watching this thread closely.

Because it's always surprising the number of normal well adjusted people who believe in ridiculous shit like ghosts.

Respecting their posts and opinions then bam, talking about the spiritual presence they've felt.

Lots. All the houses I've lived in since I was a child except one have had some sort of weirdness to them; as a child, I heard people calling my name in my house all the time, and would run to find my Mom and find out what she wanted, and have her say, "no, I wasn't calling for you!" There was something in the field next door to our house that gave me weird dreams or nightmares, and I wasn't the only one in the family to experience that.

After we moved from that house to the next house, I had experiences with something that opened and closed all the doors at various times during the same night, when there was no wind to 'help' open or close the doors. That's also where I picked up my first actual ghost, who's been following me since '88.

My next house was in a psychic community, and next door to the founder of said community's house (though he'd been dead for almost eighty years when I moved in; and his house was burned in a fire at some point afterward). There were at least seven ghosts that I personally saw in that house; my roommate, who at one point in her life worked with the police as a psychic as well as an exorcist, saw even more than that. We used to explore local houses, and ghosts would come out for me and then freak out when she'd show up.

I've moved from that house, sadly, though I now have two ghosts following me around, and I see them from time-to-time. I've also seen ghosts in the town where I currently live, though I haven't actually gone hunting for them.

Apparently when I was young I told my parents that I saw three ghosts walking by my bedroom window.

When my sister was little, she would say that she saw a man in our backyard (she slept in the same bedroom that I had when I was little).

Neither of us were prone to making up stories, so it kind of freaked my mom out. When we first moved into the house, she would also have weird experiences like feeling stuff get pulled out of her hands, little stuff like that.

Since our house was built by the mob, we think that there was some guy who got killed and then they buried him in the foundations or something. And that's why we don't watch ghost programs at night. We don't want to give him any ideas. :)

For the record, I still sometimes feel a strange presence in the house. Not to mention that almost everyone who visits gets weirded out by the place, even though there's nothing overtly strange about it.

Not sure if "ghosts", but:

When I was a child, something grabbed me by my ankles and tipped me upside down, and I landed face-first on the ground.

Another time, I was walking through the mall, and one of the people passing me by, a woman, looking like a MOTHERFUCKING FACELESS MANNEQUIN. I did a double take and when I saw her again she was a normal human.

My parents and a few acquaintances have seen actual ghosts, though.

Like, silently gliding over a street, without feet, during night-time kind of ghosts.

I have an older sister who was stillborn. Since we weren't born too far apart, it's quite likely that I wouldn't exist if she had lived. Anyway, as a kid/young teen (think ~13 years old or so) I could see her ghost from time to time. It was probably just my seeing vaguely humanly shaped things out of the corner of my eye and wanting to believe she was looking over me or something, but I was completely convinced that I could see ghosts. And I don't remember this, but my parents have told me that once, when I was a little kid, I said I had seen "a girl in a white dress" (that no one else had spotted), and they told me it was my sister.

I don't really believe in ghosts, but in my old house in Nashville, when I first moved into our room (we were living with another couple) I just felt really bad being in there, like I was getting major negative vibes. And I kept finding dried blood on the wall, like really high up where it couldn't have possibly been from either me or my husband. I'd wake up and see new stains. It really freaked me out.

Later I found out that our landlord was I guess, some kind of Columbian drug lord (really) and that our room was apparently once used as a meth lab. Yay

I've never seen a ghost, but I think people who believe that since ghost sightings/feelings could be explained by some mental state, there must therefore be no supernatural presence, don't know how perception and the brain works or what science does and does not know about the workings of the brain. I'm agnostic on ghosts myself.

Not a spiritual presence, no visible presence, but to this day I have no idea how it happened.

I was home alone, my room was on the second floor. One parent at work, the other and my brother were grocery shopping. I was in my room, sitting on my bed, doing my math homework. Math book, calculator, compass, pencils, the whole nine yards.

The phone rings. This is back in the day before cell phones. I go downstairs, answer the phone. Go right back upstairs to finish my homework before mum gets home.

My stuff is gone. I notice that my underwear drawer is open just a bit because my hip catches on it when I walk by, so I open it.

My math book, notes, pencils and calculator are all put away nice and neat, underneath all of my underwear.

I nope'd the hell out of the house until my mom got home. Her explanation was that she was haunted by a ghost named David who was a pervert and used to hide shit in her underwear drawer. (I have my mom's old bedroom from when she was a child.) There is no way anyone could have gotten upstairs to dick with my stuff even if someone was home, because the phone was at the bottom of the steps.

I would kill for a logical explanation to this because as of yet I can't come up with a single good one that makes a modicum of sense.

When I was a small child, I was staying at a hotel in downtown Milwaukee. I remember waiting for my mother to get out of the bathroom (She was taking a shower and I was afraid of the dark) while sitting by the door, I saw a...I don't know what exactly. It was sort of like a squished being made out of white light, with rainbows running through it (The closest I can compare it to was if the AOL guy turned into light being) It came through the wall, which the bed was propped up against, over the bed, and out the window up towards the sky. I screamed and starting rambling about the light guy had just ran over my little sister's head, ha!

My mother remembers that night, because on the news people had reported seeing "UFOs" and "Strange lights in the sky", etc. She waited up until my father got home because of it.

I don't know what it was. Personally I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in the paranormal, but...I just can't for the life of me explain what it was I saw.

I've had odd experiences throughout the years, I suppose. An attic door being pulled up and opened, while it could only be opened from the outside (Had two latches on it) and I was the only one in the house. Large bangs, like something metal falling, and nothing being misplaced, that sort of thing.

Never seen anything except for little moments of "ooh, something out of the corner of your eye" but that's pretty normal/non-paranormal. For years though there'd be moments when it would like someone slowly walking around upstairs (heard when downstairs) or like someone opening and closing kitchen cabinets (heard when upstairs); both of those areas would be on the same part of the house. I even had a friend ask me about it once after spending the night after she heard it, and I hadn't told her about it previously.

The best story I have took place in my first apartment in college. I'd taken a nap one late afternoon and woke up after it had already gotten dark. When I woke up, I heard this metallic noise: plink.... plink.... plink... Flipped on the lights, look around, dismiss it. A minute or so later, a noisier metallic clatter (imagine dropping a fork on a hard floor), which freaks me out, but again, I don't know wtf would have made that noise, and this was a one bedroom apartment-- not that many places to look for mystery sounds.

So I again shrug it off, until I got up to grab a soda from the kitchen, which is when I noticed that a keychain charm and baggie of dryer sheets I'd left on my TV stand had fallen on the floor of the living room. I experimentally picked up and dropped the keychain charm and recognized the noise it made as what I'd been hearing earlier. No idea what was up with that, and to my recollection that was the only hard-to-explain creepy thing that happened while I lived there. I proceeded to sleep with the lights on that night, anyway, 'cause I have a horrible, awful, overactive imagination that yields to no logic. :D

One of my friends had some good stories from her mom about her grandparents' house back in the day that they were sure was haunted. Main one I recall is some friend's keys disappearing during a visit and being found months later when they finally got to the bottom of a big canister of flour.

When I was very young (I think I was 5), I went through this "phase" as my parents called it. I use to wake up in the middle of the night and sit on the edge of my parents bed in total darkness and wait for a blinding light to come through the door and greet me. I only remember doing it once and I think it was the last time. One night, the "light" came later than usual and told me (without words) that it had to leave and couldn't return. I felt a warm presence and then it vanished. I cried myself to sleep that night. It was the first time I had a nightmare. I still don't really know what it was and the only people who know about this experience are my parents and my husband.

I've had poltergeist experiences all my life, if you want to count that as ghosts.

When I was around five or six I was playing in my room with My Little Ponies, waiting for dinner to get done. Apparently something decided it wanted to play too, because one of the ponies right in front of me, was lifted onto the top of my toy box, moved like someone was trying to make it walk across the top of the box. Reaching the end it suddenly just fell over back onto the floor. I manged to get downstairs, to where mom was before I had a complete and total freak out... I still have that pony, but for the longest time I wouldn't touch it.

The second one I remember very distinctly is right after my older brother died. He was rather religious, not that it kept him out of trouble, but could at time be a holier than thou jack ass. I had a Ouija board, I had gotten it for Christmas one year, and he hated the thing. After he died I was with two of my friends and we decided we were going to try and contact him, pretty sure nothing was going to happen. So we got the board out, and were messing around when Mom's dog came in the room. Mom's tiny, sweat, wouldn't hurt a fly, Sheltie named Star, she started growling at us. I had never heard this dog growl before, but she stood there snarling at us. Even Mom couldn't get her to stop until we put the fucking board away.

At the request of two anons above:

Okay so a group of me and my friends decided to do a there and back road trip overnight. The drive is 3-4 hours in each direction, so the plan was to leave College at 9ish at night, and return by 8-9 the next morning. The first half of the journey went fine, we got what we needed, had about an hours sleep at a friends place, then left at around 3 in the morning. About half way back, a whole lot of fog appeared. Since you have to drive through 'mountains', and it was pretty cold, it wasn't particularly surprising, so we continued to drive through it. But eventually it got waaay to thick to see anything, so we decided to pull over. We stop at the nearest rest stop, and all get out of the car. The fog is so thick that we can't see more than about two meters in front of our faces, probably around 5-6 meters when the driver turns the headlights on. There's what looks to be an empty 4WD parked, which makes the whole thing a bit eerie. We're all pretty quiet, and I'm looking at the paddock next to the rest stop, where I can see the vague outline of fenceposts, but there's one that's about double the height of the rest, and it looks (from where I'm standing) like the rough height of a man. I don't mention it, and we laugh nervously to one another about how creepy the place is. But there was something about that place that just felt off, and we all decide at once to gtfo. THe fog's still pretty thick, and the two in the back seat fall asleep fairly quickly. I'm in the front, and me and the driver are kind of shaken. We agree that something just felt off about that place. The next petrol station is about 4km away, and we pull in there to get some fresh air, and really just to see another person. We get back into the car, the two in the back still asleep, and keep driving. The creepy feeling hasn't quite faded yet, and we're about five mins away from the station (fog still everywhere) when a couple of things happen at once. I was starting to calm down, but out of nowhere I get this heavy feeling in my chest, and a wave of emotion rushes over me and all I want to do is curl up into a ball and cry. That's the last thing I remember for the next couple of minutes. The guy in the backseat suddenly wakes up, and gets an overwhelming feeling that there's something in the boot of the car. He turns on the light, and turns around, but there's nothing there. The car suddenly revs loudly and the driver swears to this day his foot was even on the gas pedal. It revs again, and the driver yells, loudly 'fuck off'. At this point, I come back to myself, my heart is beating wildly. The drivers yells again, and suddenly everything feels slightly... lighter. I can't quite explain it. The fog clears within the minute, and we make it back home without any further incident.

The scientist in me has to acknowledge that we were all pretty sleep deprived at the time, so it could very well have been some kind of mass hallucination. Having said that, I've been sleep deprived before, and never had that kind of experience. Also the driver has had some experience with ghosts (he was haunted quite severely as a child), and he said, when we got home, that he could feel two strong presences in the car with us - one was a child, which was radiating something evil, he reckoned.

Me. :/

My family's farm has been around since the early 1800s. Every once in a while, you'll catch sight of one of the previous workers.

Also my great great grandmother was a total troll and stole my glasses after I swore at her for fucking with my shit when I was trying to go to sleep. I resolved it by apologizing, and she gae them back haha.

/hopes she isn't reading over my shoulder, because I'm sitting here typing in the room she died in. :(
