[intrigueing]

As much as I love the idea of an unaging character lasting for decades, this is where the fact that almost all popular superheroes were conceived of between 1937 and 1970 really runs into problems. Race, gender, social roles. That kind of thing :( Also why I'm a huge fan of racebending (like with Nick Fury and Heimdall) and of reworking female characters and superheroines to have less outdated roles.

^this, except that I often wonder if that focus on 1937-1970 creations is a semi-deliberate copout that's undertaken in order to avoid getting challenged on why Hollywood is still (almost) only making movies about white guys.
