I love how I'm being bombarded with accusations of being a troll for pointing out that, gee, all these games in this same series done by this same studio are pretty damn similar! And telling people that we should stop arguing over which is the best and just enjoy our games. There's nothing more trollish than saying "Let's all try to get along!"

I should've known better. You people are assholes.

Because your reliance on generalities shows little critical or analytic skill of any kind, therefore making your point objectively redundant, worthless, and shite. Because using certain archetypes does not a similar story make, nor does using a few familiar elements. The larger scale of theme and hero v. villain is perhaps similar, but the idiosyncrasies, the characters' personalities, the locales, the actual storyline, and the way they deal with the similar themes are completely different.

I'd also argue that the difference between FF7 and FF8's musical score is enough to show variance in that department, although I do see your point about that.

All your secret says is "NO STORY IS ORIGINAL". Which is fact. But done in often engaging, and unique variables to make them distinct.

Also, I'm not sure how an in-joke, by naming various characters Cid makes them exactly the same. Have you even paid attention to the variations on the characters of Cid throughout the game? Look at 3, 7, 8, and 9. Hrm.

psssssssssssssst...

you do know that Square became a totally different "studio" (the fuck) circa 2002 when it merged with Enix? like, with totally different people and employees and directors and gameplay and designers and whatnot? js because you're being a li'l embarrassing here.

Because when you make crass generalisations with no basis in fact over a wildly popular series where you know people don't get along over which was best, it's usually more accurate to assume troll than nice discussion. Yeah, Hanlon's razor and all that, but since we're apparently all assholes for calling you out on your bullshit I'm definitely going to side with malice rather than moron.
