I think it's just a lot of nostalgic attachment that blinds everyone to how not great these shows were. The Nostalgia Critic called out some of these shows on how boring or not funny they were. On the one hand, I can agree that a lot of the shows weren't that great watching them again, but then again, some of the shows are actually a lot of fun to watch, stupid as they were (Double Dare, for example).

And, if anyone speaks ill of "Pete & Pete", I turn a deaf ear. That show was brilliant.

Yeah, but think about when you were a kid. At the time, those shows WERE great. Of course you probably would think they were shit nowadays ;)

Oh, Double Dare... The hey days of slime, to be sure.

Word on Pete & Pete. I watched that show religiously.

Snow days failed because it was supposed to be a pete and pete movie and nobody else could pull it off.

Omg that movie sucked! Nothing can compare to the epicness of Pete & Pete.

Thanks for the info! When I watched it, I got this feeling that this was somehow trying to be like Pete & Pete except it wasn't, especially since it was a Nickelodeon film. And, in retrospect, I thought Unaccompanied Minors was a better film, though there was a lot of dumb stuff in that one as well.

Yeah, and by taking a pete and pete plot and changing the actors and writers... well, you saw what we got.

I grew up in syracuse new york so it was personally embarrassing. Especially because I know how plows work.

Extra butthurt childhood Edit: And the writers, clearly didn't. And no, it's not just suspension of disbelief over the fact that none of the other plows that'd be out intervened, because the way plows are designed they simply couldn't do what they did. Making it in the much smaller Wellsville where Pete and Pete took place would have helped with a lot of it, though.

Pete & Pete was so wacky and surreal. It was definitely a cut above most of those other shows.

(Was it only the series of shorts or did they do full episodes at some point?)

IIRC There was ONE season of full episodes. They were AMAZING! Too bad they didn't get more seasons. ='( Or maybe, it was perfect? So that way it never lost its' touch that so many shows tend to do when they go on for too long.
