God, I hate the "But he's just a confused teenage boy!!" argument. No. He's freaking 18. In our world he would be considered an adult. Hell, in his world he probably has been an "adult" for awhile.

18 is still a messed-up-with-hormones age for many boys.

Mind, I think 'confused teenage boy' is pretty much synonymous with 'complete dick' anyway.

How is he NOT? He's 18, aka, a teenage boy. And teenage boys (and girls) do tend to be more dramatic, rush into things, not think about consequences, etc. I think trying to throw away that argument is stupid, because he is the definition of a confused teenage boy.

You can still call him a douchebag, sure (though it seems that all of his douchebag criticism is entirely related to the fact that people are mad about the love triangle), but he IS a teen boy.

You want to use his lack of maturity as a reason for why his character acted less than stellar in certain situations? Fine. Throwing the phrase around, like candy, any time some of his shitty behavior gets called for what it is - sorry, nope. When I'm an ass, I get called on it. Yes, me being a teenager gives me some leeway and is taken into account, but people don't just wring their hands and not acknowledge when I behave badly. And they shouldn't.

lol did you read my comment. He is a teenage boy because he is a teenage boy. you can still call him a douche, but teenagers do stupid shit, are more impulsive, etc., and it doesn't make them irredeemable people (tbh as far as characters go, it makes them a little more realistic). that's the point, and it's kind of weird when haters try to pretend he's not a teenage boy, when he literally is.
