if korra faced amon alone she still would've had her ass handed to her. he was a psychic bloodbender who could have easily killed her if he wanted. mako didn't ruin jack shit.

seriously, it sounds like to you by mako so much as being in a scene he's ruined the entire episode.

Little Aang faced the great fire lord alone and won without even hurting the guy. Maybe I'm just bitter because Mako ruined the finale for me by just being there. Wow, this is what it must be like to irrationally hate a character.

did you not watch skeletons in the cloest? tarrlok says himself the guy could bloodbend with his mind. he even used the word psychic.

ozai wasn't a prodigal bloodbender who could bend with his MIND and do it in the middle of the fucking day. amon could have crushed all of her organs (which is something bloodbending can actually do) if he wanted to. her going alone would have been incredibly stupid.

Explain to me how Mako could've taken Amon out when he was being blood bended and then pick up Korra and run off.

lightning bending only takes two fingers to pull of, mako got lucky enough that he was able to move that much of his body and got a sneak attack in. amon had just taken an assload of lightning to his entire body and was obviously going to be down for a bit, giving mako time to grab korra and run.

No, what it shows is that Amon isn't 'invincible'. If I remember correctly, Korra was able to airbend while Amon was blood bending her, which kind of negates your whole argument about Korra not being able to face Amon alone because her organs would be crushed.

She wouldn't have been able to airbender without that emotional push from Mako.

Even if that was the case, that is stupid writing. That's not how airbending works. Emotion can fuel firebending (though as we learned in the first series, it's not the best source), and it can induce the Avatar state, but... yeah. Airbending is not associated with rage and fear.

Frankly, I assumed that when Amon mucked up her other bending pathways, he accidentally unblocked her airbending pathways.

Yeah, that seemed a little off to me too. Element that requires calm, focus, meditative skill and strong spiritual connection? Korra fails at those things, so she can unlock it with her RAEG!

I like your theory quite a lot. Might adopt it for personal headcanon. =3

She could have gotten that emotional push from somewhere else; and that emotional push also could have been a lot more meaningful.

And to agree with what has already been said, airbending is not associated with anger or fear.

That explanation just makes it worse. Why should Korra gaining her airbending be dependant on seeing her male love interest in danger?

Why couldn't that push come from her own inner strength, or knowing that Republic City counted on her, or fear for *ALL* the people she cared about? Or better yet, she doesn't magically unlock it through an emotional surge, but gains it by putting time and effort into her training and realizing she needs to take a different approach this time.
