I've been coming/commenting/submitting secrets here for the last few years. But I can no longer continue to do so, for it is no longer fun. There's nothing left but this cesspool of hatred, where a fan can't even admit to liking a character without being harassed&jumped upon by other people for not hating along with them.

Hmmm. Well, I immediately predicted how this comment would be received, and I've only been following Fandom Secrets a few months and have limited social skills, so I have to assume you anticipated the response you've gotten. I see several possibilities:

(a) You're feeling so hurt and angry you don't care how anyone sees you. That's not a pleasant feeling. Take a deep breath, close this browser window, and go do something non-interactive until you feel better. Evaluate your frame of mind to see if there's anything else going on.
(b) You're making stuff up to attract attention and/or heap additional ridicule on those people defending certain characters. I think that's very juvenile, but it's hardly unusual.

Or, possibly, (c): You didn't anticipate the response, meaning your social skills are worse than mine. I feel genuinely bad for you. If several years of observation didn't work, I'm not sure what to say. Consider seeking help.
(d) You didn't anticipate the response because you didn't take sixty seconds to think about the response before posting. I do not feel bad for you.

How was going out of your way to submit a secret criticizing fans for their supposedly irrational behavior, then posting over and over again whilst flinging insults on the thread in which they defend said behavior, being "harassed" and "jumped on"?

This sort of thing is nothing new. And imo it's a huge part of the reason why f!s is fun - heated discussions, clashing of opinions, etc.

And if you think all of f!s is just a "cesspool of hatred" outside of these wanky threads that pop up, you obviously haven't been reading any of f!s outside the wanky threads. We are actually a group of fairly caring people (at least, some of us are) because when someone posts about a situation that's genuinely difficult, fucked up, etc., the rest of the community reaches out to them. There are also lots of instances where people find people with similar interests, have great and productive and non-inflammatory discussions, and wind up making new friends. But I really shouldn't need to point all of that out.

Basically, it's your choice. Saddens me to see the community get even smaller, but that's the way it goes, I suppose.
