Like, worse than the later Twilight books? Because those were great hopped-up-on-cold-meds trainwreck reading for me, and I was considering picking up 50 Shades for next time I get awful sick and can't read real fiction.

Okay, but did you read the original fic to compare it to?

I mean, have you compared the texts to see if she even tried to clean up some of the stupidity? (Like Bella/Ana supposedly being at fault for getting pregnant because she missed her BC shot, but the math clearly shows that it should have been still working when she got knocked up? I don't know why that one is bugging me almost more than anything else.)

I'll be honest with you. I skimmed. I lack the appropriate full context to make a full and complete comparison. It seemed similar. It certainly didn't seem like it had a good editor (or any editor), so i bet the basic logic mistakes are in there, but I couldn't say for certain.

But it's still crap, up to the end. Maybe it has changed? But it didn't get any better, so I wouldn't worry you were missing much.

Edit: I caught at least one part toward the end unchanged but for names, so I think it's still pretty similar. But since I refused to pay money for those books I do not have them on hand to confirm that.

I read them just to see if the horrendous quotes I was seeing float about the internet were For Real in the Book, and I am sad to report that alas, that storyline did not get cleaned up, 'cause that was most definitely in book three.

Granted, I was pretty intoxicated by that point in the novel, but I seem to remember shouting about it.

just download the pdf or epub files of the books from a torrent website .g go to isohunt.com and search for fifty shades, check that the file has good comments/reviews (so you know it's real) and then read.
