Okay, but did you read the original fic to compare it to?

I mean, have you compared the texts to see if she even tried to clean up some of the stupidity? (Like Bella/Ana supposedly being at fault for getting pregnant because she missed her BC shot, but the math clearly shows that it should have been still working when she got knocked up? I don't know why that one is bugging me almost more than anything else.)

I don't want to be seen holding it. I mean, I am willing to show up at Target* the second it opens (8:00AM) with my hair covered and dark eyeglasses, grab the set, smuggle it under my shirt to the cash register, pay in cash and rush out the door without talking to anyone, but I'm hoping to be talked out of it before i resort to that.

*I would go to a far-off Target, but they're really widespread where I live and I don't have access to that kind of transportation (unless I ask my mother to drive me, and yeah, no). I'll be damned if I pay a taxi fair on top of the box set.

Check it out from the library? (Though you might have to wait a while--When I requested it at the library, the hold list was over 600 people. It's since dropped down to 200-someodd. I figure I should get it in October or so.) Your library might have ebook lending, in which case you could check it out and read it on your own computer in the privacy of your room.

The fics/books are exactly the same; they even have the same grammar mistakes. The only difference are the names.

Oh, that makes me cringe. Grammar, honey, we learn that shit in high school.

my friend read all of the fanfic version, and afterward she skimmed through the books, and it's so much the same that it's definitely not worth paying for. the changes that she did do are mostly name changes (of course) and some spots where she changed the sentences a bit but kept the same idea of them. someone put it through an essay comparer and found that the two are 89% similar http://dearauthor.com/features/industry-news/master-of-the-universe-versus-fifty-shades-by-e-l-james-comparison/

Jesus, just search for the pdf version online you can get that shit for free easy.

God, I felt so much rage when I saw that it was out in my language...

...then I lost hope in humanity when I saw a whole bookshop window full of them. Nothing else on that display, just this shit. Arrrrgh.

I know! I did a double take the other day when I passed a bookstore and saw the book in portuguese (and typically, they translated the title wrong...). My reaction was grabing my sister and telling her that if she even tought of buying/reading that book, I'd lose all respect for her.

She didn't even blink. Just shrugged and went ok, not really interested in it at all. I WAS SO PROUD!
