Bullshit. He would take you because of it! He would show you exactly how it absolutely DOESN'T matter that you are disabled!
The Doctor especially would show you the entire universe and tell you that just because you are disabled doesn't mean you have limits!

Not the OP, not disabled (my issues are mental and very minor all things considered), but this made me cry a little too. In a good way.
