Yes, actually. The idea that you have some inherent right to a non-necessary luxury you can't afford is why morons on the other end like Ayn Rand have followers.

You don't have the money for a book, why should you have it?

You are entitled to jack and shit, and I hope your hosting site is next on the chopping block.

Sounds like your herpes is acting up today.

You don't have the money for a book, why should you have it?

Because I went to the library?

No, the fundamental attribution error and itty-bitty monkeyspheres are why morons like Ayn Rand have followers.

art is not a luxury. it is a necessity. if more people could see this, humanity might actually progress.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-17 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
There are libraries and other places to get free art.
Piracy is definitely not the same thing.

Again, it shows that you're a privileged person who lives in a well-to-do place and has access to big enough libraries. It might be difficult for you to imagine that not everyone has this luxury. But well, just make an effort, okay? Not everyone has access to the stuff you personally have access to. There other places in the world apart from America.

And stop it with entertainment already. I wouldn't be able to learn the language of my ancestors if not for the pirated textbooks which made it possible. Your priviledged talk sounds so shallow sometimes. :(
nachtmusik: (sex is awesome)

This is a very lovely notion, but the problem here is that the artists themselves need to make money to continue making art. If art is really so important to you, you should try your absolute fucking best to actually support it. The life of a manga-ka is depressing and it's amazing people even do it. American publishers have to fight to keep the company's lights on in a lot of cases. And that's just with manga. Art in general struggles to make money, with the exception of the small percentage of artists who make it big. If you really want to make art something that everyone has access to, you should do what you can, if you can possibly so anything at all, to support it.
