(Anonymous) 2012-07-17 07:17 am (UTC)(link)I live in an Eastern European country where the income rates are one fourth of say America or Britain. Therefore the 20$ you pay for a manga to me seems four times more expensive. Seriously, think if you had to pay 80$ for one volume of a manga. Does that seem so totally reasonable? Plus shipping of course cause no freaking book store actually sells them in my country apart from dragon ball for some reason.
Don't pursue this hobby you say? Well you know what, the situation is really the same with every other thing as well. Movies, music, games, what else is there to do? Frankly pirating is the only thing left that makes me feel that I'm actually living and not just existing from paycheck to paycheck. (heck I have trouble affording freaking clothes and shoes) Do you think I want to pirate all of this shit? FUCK NO, I hate it. I'd love to have all of my favorite movies and books on display in my room, and support my favorite artists. But in the end it all comes down to buying either one volume of a manga or an new jacket since I've been wearing my last one for the last 5 years and it's starting to show.
