tbh it's not just fandom that has this issue. caitlin kiernan (http://greygirlbeast.livejournal.com/893780.html), who is a lesbian author who writes a lot of queer characters, wrote a long post about how she gets scared to write for fear of being judged.

I don't have a problem with pointing out problematic issues, but it escalates to an attack way too often. I have seen so many critiques for stuff because they have characters saying bitch or crazy or lame or various other things. and lbr, most ppl don't talk like SJWs. hell, even most SJWs don't talk that way irl. (I've rl friends who are big into SJ online but in person? yeah those same words just drop right out.)

even if you do it right, there are ppl who still disagree, cuz no group is a hivemind. stuff I think is well done gets reviews about being *ist.

Just write what you want, and fuck the haters. yeah, having an anxiety disorder makes it harder but plenty of people aren't that anal retentive and will judge a story on its merits.
