Watching Evangelion for the first time recently (I know, I'm way late), and I'm so confused. TVTropes had me believing that Rei was just that... the Rei trope. Emotionless creepy girl.

She's so far from that. The first few episodes she really gets a feature, her emotions are almost uncontrollable. She's trying so hard to please Gendou, she's always smiling when he's near. She flipped out on Shinji and slapped him in the face. I could tell she was furious under the not really emotive face.

...She's the opposite of her own trope. I'm so lost. @_@

This isn't the first time this has happened. I have yet to see the Worf Effect at all in Star Trek TNG. I'm starting to think that TVTropes is just full of character-bashing trolls.
