I was so over JD and Elliot as a couple by the time they got together. Ah well.

I think I stopped caring about their relationship somewhere in season 3. Liked the happy ending, but much more for the ensemble than the pairing. Cox and Jordan, on the other hand, I cheered them all the way to the finish line.

OMG I know. I rolled my eyes so hard when Elliot broke off the engagement with Keith right before the wedding because "OMG WAIT HE'S NOT MY ENDGAME SHIP." What a freaking letdown.

Tbh, I kinda felt uncomfortable with the way Elliot treated them at times. So, idk, I agree but I don't agree.

That's why I've never even really watched the last season. Keith was so good for Elliot, and he loved her even with her crazy. Tell me your heart doesn't melt a little bit at the calligraphy scene?

Then again, I really hate--loathe might be a better term-- the whole "strangled by the red string/first one to see the girl gets her" thing. They never had good romantic chemistry, but they made amazing friends.

hahaha this is the same reason I stopped watching too! My friends think I'm weird for it but ugh I really hate that trope too and it didn't even make sense for them. I thought the whole point of Season 3's arc with them was to end the possibility of them getting together in the end in the first place!

Keith was so GGG and earnest and veered so painfully into Mocked Doormat that it was clear that Eliot wouldn't stay with him.

I agree with comment that Eliot treated him like crap, and so since I was never on the JD train - He was an immature dick with flashes of decency - I think he and eliot deserved each other, if for no other reason that it's best to couple up with someone with the same Douche Level.

As much as I like all the characters, Elliot did not treat Keith well.
And, of course, you can't fight the obvious (or not so obvious) end game couples.

I am so glad I am not the only person who feels this way. My family LOVES this show and I hate J.D. with the passion of one million first world problems.

He's the epitome of 'I think I'm a nice guy but I am in fact a gigantic douchenozzle'

I like watching her in How I Met Your Mother and pretend it's Elliot who finally realized JD was a douche so she ran away with their daughter, changed her name, and worked as a doctor in New York.

Of course that only works up until we actually meet Stella's ex, but imagining it was JD made me smile.

THIS! JD is the EPITOME of a Nice Guy--he goes out of his way to be "nice" to women pretty much just to get into their pants. That's why I loved the episode where his current gf was being hesitant about sleeping with him (she'd had major issues with her previous boyfriend), so JD actually considered sleeping with someone else, and when his gf found out, she dumped his ass. And he DESERVED IT.

In a way, I agree with you. If Eliot was an idiotic and selfish enough to dump an actual good guy for J.D., then she deserves J.D. and not Keith.

At the end of the show JD and Elliot had matured enough that they fit well. In the earlier seasons, Elliot treated Sean and Keith like shit, and JD treated Elliot like shit. It was a mess. But I do think they worked it out towards the end.

The way everyone was all "nobody cares that you two are together, Elliot," was the way I felt. They had broken up so many times and had convinced me that they weren't meant for each other, so having them hook up again didn't make me feel anything pleasant.

Though I think Keith and...Sean was it? I think they deserved better anyway. JD and Elliot can have each other.

I only watched this show off and on, but even from that it seemed they were always breaking up. I never got invested in them as a pairing either.

I absolutely hated JD and Elliot as a couple...until they actually got together in a stable way in "My Happy Place" in season 8. It just interested me so much — this couple which has so many years of shit behind them managing to decide to be completely mature and level-headed and decide to get together because they believe it will make them happy and that they can handle it now, not on impulse or because they're madly in love or can't stay away from each other. Just because they basically said "You know, I like this idea. I think this is a good idea. I love you and I'm certain we won't do the things we did before. Do you want to try it?"

And oh god after that they were so mellow. So no-drama. So open and honest and communicative and self-aware of all their flaws and problems and tendencies and history and the diametric opposite of everything that had defined (and ruined) their romantic off-and-on before that. It was just so unique and different from any other will-they-won't-they couple I had ever seen and made so much sense given their character development that I couldn't help it — I started liking them.

ONLY in season 8, though. God, they were the worst thing conceivable for each other before that.

I always wanted her to end up with the Janitor. I knew it wouldn't happen, but I'm still a little disappointed anyway. :/

Breaking her up with Keith made literally no sense. They didn't even try. Plus I can't really see JD not pulling some of his crap on her again, because he's done it in every relationship he's ever been in and didn't seem like he was really going to change.

Echoing what just about everyone else has said here, I hated JD/Elliot, too. Then again, JD's the epitome of a Nice Guy and Elliot turned into this giant shrieking asshole after season four (and not the fun kind), so maybe they deserve each other.
